Assessment

OpenAI Workloads to Amazon Bedrock Migration Assessment

A fixed-fee, five business day assessment for organizations running OpenAI models and agents on Azure, or directly with OpenAI, that want to run them on AWS. Avahi delivers a business plan with total cost of ownership, and return on investment where the data supports it, plus a technical migration plan for Amazon Bedrock.

Why it matters

Many organizations built their first generative AI applications on OpenAI models through Azure, or directly on the OpenAI API, and now want those workloads on AWS alongside the rest of their data and applications. Amazon Bedrock now offers OpenAI models, with availability that varies by AWS Region. Moving is more than changing an endpoint: model versions, agents, retrieval, content filtering, and capacity commitments each need a clear path, and finance needs a cost picture it can trust before anything moves.

Avahi's assessment runs over five business days and produces two deliverables. The business plan compares the total cost of ownership of current Azure and direct OpenAI usage with the same workloads on Amazon Bedrock, accounts for existing commitments and reserved capacity, and includes return on investment where the customer provides the business metrics to support it. The technical migration plan maps every model, agent, and feature in use today to its Amazon Bedrock equivalent, flags anything without a direct equivalent, and sets out the target architecture, migration waves, and risks.

Avahi is an AWS Premier Tier Services Partner and an OpenAI Select Tier Partner, so the assessment is grounded in both the platform the workloads move to and the models they depend on. The plan is written to be carried out by Avahi's companion migration engagement, which is scoped separately.

Highlights

  • A business plan comparing the total cost of ownership of current Azure and direct OpenAI usage with Amazon Bedrock, with return on investment where business metrics support it.
  • A technical migration plan that maps every OpenAI model, agent, and feature in use today to Amazon Bedrock and flags gaps before migration starts.
  • A fixed-fee assessment delivered in five business days by an AWS Premier Tier Services Partner and OpenAI Select Tier Partner.

What we deliver

  1. Discovery and inventory

Avahi inventories every OpenAI workload the customer runs today, on Azure and directly with OpenAI: models and versions in use, agents and their tools, retrieval and search, content filtering, and fine-tuned models. Inputs include billing exports, token usage, and reserved or provisioned capacity commitments. This runs first.

  2. Model and feature mapping

Each model and feature in the inventory is mapped to its Amazon Bedrock equivalent, with availability confirmed in the customer's target AWS Regions. Anything without a direct equivalent is flagged with options. The output includes a model selection and pricing tier strategy for each workload.

  3. Business plan

A financial plan comparing the total cost of ownership of current Azure and direct OpenAI spend with the same workloads on AWS, including the timing of existing commitments. Return on investment is included where the customer provides the business metrics to support it.

  4. Technical migration plan and readout

The target architecture on AWS, API and code changes, the approach for agents, identity, networking, content safety, and monitoring, migration waves, and risks with mitigations. Avahi presents the business plan and the migration plan together at a final readout. The plan feeds the separately scoped migration engagement.
